In Rome like at Home

In these few lines, Nelson Mandela underlined the importance of sport for our society. Sport has indeed the capacity to gather people together, irrespective of national, cultural and social differences. When sport is played with genuine passion and in respect of fundamental values – such as respect, tolerance, mutual understanding and solidarity – it can support social inclusion.
Not by chance, in recent years the promotion of sport became one the priorities of the European Union, with many studies and initiatives focused on the development of the health and social aspects of sport activities. In other words, “sport must be for all”, and everybody must be able to participate and choose the right sport according to their attitudes.
Since its foundation, 116 years ago, Società Sportiva Lazio has always been in first line in the promotion of “Sport for all”. And, since 2013, it has been leading the European Multisport Club Association (www.multisportclubs.eu), an entity that now can count on 16 Multisport Clubs from all our Continent and representing millions of fans and hundreds of thousands of athletes.

Thanks to the experience of EMCA, Lazio has been promoting sport at European level, with important initiatives such as the “Sport&Support” Project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, putting the stress on the importance of “Multisport Clubs” in the European Sport Movement. Their role in this sense is crucial, since Multisport Clubs – better than anyone else – can build a strong sense of belonging.
In particular, while “Monosport” Clubs can offer to kids only one sport, Multisport Clubs can make them practice more disciplines. This, on the one hand, can help them to find the right one, according to their capacities, talents and passions; while, on the other hand, in case of young expatriates, allows pupils to practice popular sports of their native countries, making more comfortable the new reality they are living into.
That is why Società Sportiva Lazio is promoting his new “In Rome like at Home” programme, giving diplomats, expats, non-Italian residents etc. the opportunity to practice different sports – even their favourite home country ones – in a well-known reality such as the white-skyblue club. Our sections are ready to offer different systems of subscription, according to the calendars and to the different intensity of the courses.
